We’re a fully licensed, bonded, and insured general contracting firm serving the Greater Sacramento area. And thanks to the vision of our founders, Steve and Heather Tankersley, we’ve become one of California’s leaders in residential construction by taking commercial construction principles and applying them to small- and mid-sized homeowner projects.
Being a family-owned business helps us keep our customers’ satisfaction in full view at all times. No matter how complex the project, our focus is on completing it on time and on budget, with no exceptions. And we believe it’s what has motivated so many of our customers to hire us for multiple projects and refer us to so many of their friends.

Our Founders
As a third-generation contractor, some of Steve Tankersley's earliest memories are of being on a jobsite with his father. Perhaps that’s what motivated him to earn a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management from Sacramento State University, all the while working as a carpenter eventually working his way to Project Management for some of the largest and complex commercial construction projects in California.
Heather was born and raised in Wilton, CA and was instilled with her work ethic and drive at an early age by her parents who owned and managed their own small business. After graduation from Sonoma State University, Heather found her path in construction with a large electrical contractor, eventually working her way to Sr. Project Manager.
Steve and Heather met in 2009 while working on a construction project together. They married in 2012, and founded Tankersley Construction together in 2017 after recognizing a shortage of professional, high quality, and well-organized residential construction companies in the Sacramento region.
Steve and Heather each strive for excellence in all organizations they are a part of, and they are known to be on the “winning team”. Steve and Heather are able to provide an experience to Tankersley Construction’s clients, employees, and vendors that is unlike any other in the Sacramento region. Through excellence in craftsmanship, customer service, project management, and overall project execution, Tankersley Construction is a powerhouse remodeling and construction company in Northern California.
