The Best Restaurants in Granite Bay: A Local's Guide

One of the questions we hear most often from families who are new to Granite Bay has nothing to do with construction.

"Where should we go to dinner?"

It usually comes up during a site walk, somewhere between a conversation about window packages and a discussion about where the new pantry should go. The family has just bought a home, or they have finally decided to stay and remodel the one they love, and they want to know where the people who actually live here like to eat.

We understand the question better than most. Our office is in Rancho Cordova, but a large share of our work happens along Douglas Boulevard, Auburn Folsom Road, and the neighborhoods tucked between Folsom Lake and Roseville. Over the years, we have celebrated project completions, hosted design meetings, and taken more than a few long lunches at the restaurants below. None of them paid to be here. They are simply the places we keep going back to.

Hawks: Granite Bay's Special-Occasion Standard

If there is one restaurant that defines fine dining in Granite Bay, it is Hawks. Located on Douglas Boulevard, Hawks has been setting the standard for more than seventeen years with a Modern American menu built around seasonal ingredients and a dining room that manages to feel both elegant and comfortable.

This is the restaurant we recommend for anniversaries, milestone birthdays, and the dinner you schedule the night you finally move back into your remodeled home. The menu changes with the seasons, the service is attentive without being formal, and the wine list rewards people who like to linger. Reservations are a good idea, especially on weekends.

What we appreciate most about Hawks is that it feels like Granite Bay. It is refined without being flashy, and every detail feels considered. That is the same standard our clients expect in their homes.

Farmhaus: Rustic, Seasonal, and Made for the Patio

Farmhaus describes itself as a little house off Auburn Folsom Road, and that is exactly the charm. The menu leans toward elevated, seasonally driven comfort food made with locally sourced ingredients, and it changes often enough that regulars always find something new.

On a warm evening, the outdoor patio is one of the nicest places to eat in the area. It is the kind of relaxed, farmhouse-inspired setting that reminds you why so many families moved to the Granite Bay and Loomis foothills in the first place. Check the menu before you go, because the format and pricing change with the seasons.

Sette Pasta House: Seven Dishes, Done Right

Sette Pasta House opened on Douglas Boulevard in 2024 with a simple idea: serve seven iconic pasta dishes and make every one of them from scratch, down to the fresh ricotta. Sette means seven in Italian, and the focused menu is the point. When a kitchen only does a handful of things, it can do them exceptionally well.

The open kitchen, indoor-outdoor seating, and Italian-inspired setting make it a great choice for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed evening with friends. The signature lasagna has developed a loyal following, and the restaurant also offers catering for those who would rather enjoy handmade pasta at home.

We will admit that we have a soft spot for Sette's philosophy. In remodeling, as in cooking, complexity is often the enemy of consistency. Doing fewer things with more care almost always produces a better result.

Vaiano Trattoria: A Taste of Tuscany on Douglas Boulevard

For something more traditional, Vaiano Trattoria brings the flavors of Tuscany to a warm, rustic dining room on Douglas Boulevard. Pasta dishes, hand-rolled pizza, generous salads, and protein-focused entrées make it a reliable choice for families and groups.

Vaiano is the kind of neighborhood trattoria every community needs: comfortable, unpretentious, and consistent. It is a favorite for birthday dinners and Sunday evenings when nobody wants to cook. Note that it is closed on Mondays, and reservations are recommended for larger parties.

Dominick's Italian Market & Deli: The Best Lunch Stop on Auburn Folsom

Not every great meal needs a reservation. Dominick's Italian Restaurant & Deli on Auburn Folsom Road is our go-to for a quick, satisfying lunch between site visits. The sandwiches are substantial, the deli case is worth browsing, and the market makes it easy to pick up imported Italian ingredients for dinner at home.

When a client asks where they can grab something fast during a design meeting at their home, Dominick's is usually our first answer.

Worth the Short Drive: Pera Mezze House

Just past the Granite Bay line on Eureka Road in Roseville, Pera Mezze House shares the culinary traditions of Türkiye and Greece with fresh mezzes, grilled dishes, and a warm, recently refreshed dining room. It is a great option for groups who like to order a table full of small plates and share. Since so many Granite Bay residents live closer to Eureka Road than to the Douglas and Auburn Folsom intersection, it belongs on any local list.

How to Choose the Right Spot

Every restaurant on this list serves a different purpose, and the best choice depends on the evening you have in mind.

For a true celebration, Hawks is the answer. For a relaxed patio dinner, choose Farmhaus. For handmade pasta and a lively open kitchen, go to Sette. For a classic family dinner, Vaiano is hard to beat. For a quick lunch, stop at Dominick's. And for a group that loves to share, make the short drive to Pera Mezze House.

Why a Builder Pays Attention to Restaurants

It might seem unusual for a remodeling company to write a restaurant guide, but the connection is closer than it looks.

The best restaurants succeed for the same reasons the best homes do. The layout supports the way people actually move through the space. The lighting changes the mood of the room. The materials feel warm and authentic. Every detail, from the height of the bar to the placement of the host stand, has been thought through.

We notice those things everywhere we go. More than one client has walked into our first meeting with a photo of a restaurant banquette, a bar shelf, or a pendant light they fell in love with over dinner. Those inspirations often make their way into the luxury kitchen remodels, wine rooms, and outdoor kitchens we build throughout Granite Bay, Loomis, El Dorado Hills, and Folsom.

Bringing the Restaurant Experience Home

Many of the families we work with love dining out, but they increasingly want homes that make entertaining just as enjoyable. Outdoor kitchens, covered patios, scullery kitchens, and wine storage are among the most requested features in the Granite Bay market today. As we noted in the annual Tankersley Remodeling Index, outdoor living budgets of $150,000 to $400,000 are no longer unusual in Granite Bay, as homeowners treat covered patios and outdoor kitchens as primary living spaces rather than afterthoughts.

So enjoy a great dinner at one of the restaurants above. And if you come home thinking your own kitchen or patio could feel a little more like your favorite table in town, we would love to have that conversation. At Tankersley Build Co., we believe the best homes, like the best restaurants, are designed around how people gather.
